WE ARE HIRING!
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Tolling and ITS Engineering Co-Op Student interested in Transportation Tolling and ITS Engineering to join our team supporting the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) General Engineering Contract (GEC) Program. The Co-Op will be working at SRTA’s downtown office in Atlanta, Georgia, serving as an extension of the client’s staff. The position offers a fantastic opportunity to participate in all stages of a project’s life cycle working side by side with the larger SRTA team.
This position will support the AtkinsRéalis GEC Program Director for the client’s Engineering Group, and will work with AtkinsRéalis staff and other consultants, as well as provide support to the client’s staff, on numerous types of design/construction and systems projects related primarily to express lanes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work includes application of knowledge of Toll Systems, Toll Operations, and relevant Toll related Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technology to the investigation of needs and problems related to transportation planning, engineering and operations, the coordination of Toll project activities, and the preparation of preliminary deliverables and documents.
- Applies general planning, operational, and engineering principles to solve specific toll-related problems.
- Assists in the design and development of toll concepts, including requirement analysis, , development and communication of operational concepts, specifications development, oversight of system development, oversight of installation and testing.
- The job functions will be carried out within small, project-oriented, multidisciplinary teams of Tolling professionals and support direct interaction with clients within the context of project progress meetings, design reviews, operations, and project production and delivery.
- Work with all different groups within SRTA, engineering, project management office, operations, communications, and the legal team. Serves as an extension to client staff, working with the Agency’s staff on a daily basis. This position will require 5 days in the office with the team. Communicates regularly with client staff, project managers, external agency and consultant staff.
- Establishes and maintains records or files of technical data or documents.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EXPERIENCE: No experience is generally required if accepted into a Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
- EDUCATION: Must have completed 36 hours towards a civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial and systems engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Spring 2026) and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: None
- SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to assemble and analyze data.
- Good technical writing and communications skills, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
- Ability to perform in a professional courteous manner and remain friendly while under pressure.
- Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment.
- Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Outlook or equivalent e-mail program, as well as the use of Internet and other information processing and storage techniques.
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred)
NOTE: This role is a traditional co-op, integrating academic studies with professional work experience. The selected student will alternate between periods of academic coursework and full-time employment. This role will span 3 semesters, providing valuable hands-on experience, skill enhancement, and preparation for your future career.

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
