Job Summary:

Allina Health is hiring nursing interns to work with their assigned RN preceptor to provide care that is whole person, patient centered, collaborative in nature and exceptional in quality. We have one streamlined application to be considered for all internships within the Allina system. It is a paid, ten-week, immersive experience for students currently enrolled in a baccalaureate RN program to be completed the summer prior to graduation. Our internship is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world hands-on nursing experience, increase confidence, enhance skills and receive preference for employment upon graduation!

Important Dates:

  • The internship is ten weeks: June 1-August 7, 2026

  • Application will close December 15th at 12:01 AM- applying early is encouraged

Work Schedule:

  • 0.8 FTE (64 hours in a 2-week pay period)

  • Your work schedule will mirror your assigned preceptor

  • Shift, shift length and weekend agreement will vary based on preceptor - must be available to work: days, evenings, nights, 8s, 12s as well as rotating shifts

  • Your specific work schedule will be known May 2026 when you are matched with your preceptor

  • There may availabilities in Home Care, Clinics, Urgent Care and a wide variety of patient care units within the 12 hospital campuses of the Allina Health system:

  • Cardiac Telemetry

  • Float Pool

  • Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation

  • Medical Surgical

  • Mental Health

  • Neurology

  • Oncology

  • Orthopedics

  • Progressive Care

  • Short Stay Observation

  • Spine

  • The ED, ICU, OB and Surgical Services areas may also hire interns but on a more limited basis

  • Our hospitals primarily serve the adult patient populations so we do not have Neonatal, Pediatrics or Special Care Nursery units within the Allina hospital system

Job Description:

Job Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited nursing program
  • Baccalaureate graduation date of December 2026 or May 2027
  • Enrollment and active participation in a nursing internship course through a Minnesota university
  • This is a pre-licensure program (licensed RNs are not eligible)
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required by completion of orientation


Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Flat Rate: $22.00 per hour*This position is paid on a standard non-negotiable hourly rate. Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
