Role:
Northwood Space is seeking an enthusiastic RF Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 to join our team in Torrance. As an intern, you’ll assist in designing the next generation of ground stations and support the RF team’s efforts in optimizing performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside electrical, RF, mechanical, manufacturing, and software engineers, contributing to the development process from concept to production.
Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of new RF hardware, as well as improvements to existing designs for enhanced performance and reliability
Assist in the fabrication and characterization of prototypes for antennas, feeds, and active RF circuits
Work closely with hardware and software engineers to test and troubleshoot integrated RF performance
Provide technical support to colleagues in regulatory and site operations
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Basic knowledge of transmission line theory and use of the smith chart
Familiarity with RF test equipment, such as network analyzers and spectrum analyzers, including how they work
Experience with PCB design in a tool such as Altium
Experience in Python or another language for data analysis
Compensation and Benefits:
Northwood Summer 2026 Internships are based in Torrance, CA and 12 weeks in length (June 1 - August 21 or June 15 - September 4). We offer an hourly rate between $30-$34/hr based on discipline and graduating year. We also have a $4,000 housing stipend and lunch/dinner catered daily.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
