Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for our transportation department in Tampa, Florida. As an intern in the transportation department, you will assist in the structural bridge design.

This position in expected to begin between December 2025 to May 2026.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
- Prepare engineering related calculations.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Review shop drawings.
- Assist in the inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
- Prepare details for construction drawings using CAD software.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or higher degree with an emphasis in Structural Engineering and with the intent to continue enrollment after the internship and must have completed least 3 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and plan to continue with the Master’s Degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S Citizenship is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed courses related to statics, strength of materials, introductory steel design, and introductory reinforced concrete design.
- Ability to follow procedures and pay attention to detail.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in developing calculations using software like Excel or Mathcad.
- Interest in bridge design is desired.
