General Summary:
As a Cybersecurity Automation Intern, you’ll contribute to projects that balance technical risk with business priorities, while helping to enhance detection and response capabilities. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and business stakeholders to understand how security controls affect operations and to streamline automation workflows. This role provides hands-on experience in real-world incident response, threat modeling, and process optimization, offering a unique opportunity to apply both cybersecurity and automation skills in a dynamic enterprise setting. A solid grasp of IT fundamentals and cybersecurity principles will empower you to make meaningful contributions and accelerate your professional growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
50% - Automation
Assist in building and testing automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate to streamline incident response tasks such as alert triage, ticket creation, and notification routing.
Support the integration of cybersecurity tools and data sources (e.g., SIEM, ServiceNow, SharePoint) into automated dashboards and reporting systems.
Help document and maintain automation scripts and workflows, ensuring clarity and reusability for the security team.
Contributes to the creation of automated playbooks for common incident types (e.g., phishing, malware alerts) to improve response time and consistency.
Collaborate with team members to identify manual processes that can be automated to improve operational efficiency.
25% - Enhance/Implement Capabilities to Strengthen Detection and Response Capabilities
Assist in documenting lessons learned from incidents and threat hunts to improve detection strategies and playbooks.
Support basic threat modeling and help identify gaps in current monitoring and response workflows.
Leverage security orchestration (SOAR) to automate security response procedures.
Create new operational service integrations using data from industry leading threat intelligence vendors.
25% - Threat Hunting & Incident Response
Assist in identifying potential indicators of compromise (IOCs) by reviewing security alerts and logs under guidance from senior analysts.
Help collect and organize threat intelligence from internal and external sources, assessing relevance to Campbell’s environment.
Get exposure to and complete incident response opportunities
Document findings and contribute to knowledge-sharing efforts that enhance the team’s threat detection capabilities.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required
Solid understanding of core IT systems—including email, web, networks, workstations, servers—and strong knowledge of network protocols, cloud platforms, and SaaS technologies.
Core skills and competencies in Cybersecurity Incident Response.
Familiarity with common scripting languages like Python and/or Powershell.
Familiarity with commonly deployed information technology resources including email, web, network, workstation and servers.
Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

What we require of candidates:
A cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher
Full Time Student enrolled in a Computer Science, MIS, or related program
Self-starter with ability to multi-task and take initiative
Demonstrated technical skills, results, and leadership
Experience with MS Office Suite Including Excel and Outlook
Agile learner with demonstrated self-awareness and flexibility
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Able to thrive in a team environment
Experience with Python or other scripting languages
Knowledge of data analytics concepts
Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$-$0Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
