About The Program:You will experience the day-to-day life of a Registered Nurse in a variety of roles and settings. This hands-on, paid internship will expand your clinical skills and knowledge under the guidance of an experienced nurse preceptor. This is a great opportunity to make a difference for those served in your care and to strengthen your clinical skill set.

Summary
The Sanford nursing intern participates in a learning experience designed to develop confidence and competence in clinical skills to facilitate a smooth transition into a licensed role after graduation. The internship program assists students in finding an area of nursing clinical practice that best fits their career goals, talents and interests. The intern will be mentored by an licensed professional in his/her specialty to strengthen clinical skill sets.Job Description
The intern cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move in and out of care settings. The intern discovers enhanced ways of communicating and supporting patients, learning what it is like working as a licensed professional in their field, while following a real schedule. Performs tasks of direct and indirect patient care and supports the activities of the department. Utilizes appropriate population-specific patient care protocols and policies related to the physical and psychological needs of all ages of patients. Embodies the vision and values that are compatible with Sanford Health. The intern functions within the scope and standards of practice as outlined in the state specific regulations.Qualifications
- Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited RN program and have participated in an academic clinical experience.
- At the time of internship, student must be within 1 or 2 semesters of your expected graduation date. Applicant must have an anticipated graduation date of Winter 2026 or Spring 2027.
- Must have completed 1 semester of clinical experiences prior to the internship.
- Submission of an accumulative transcript, including your most recently completed semester at time of application.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Associates (AHA) required.
