Position Description: 

GENEX Cooperative is seeking a Calf Performance Consultant intern to represent our products and services helping cows from Transition to Fresh and Calf on the first 21 days of life in the US market Mid-West region.  This is a Consulting internship that includes sales training, on-farm sales experience, Calf Audit to evaluate Health and Immunity performance, Data Analysis to evaluate incidence of cow health opportunities from Dry to Fresh and close interaction with full-time staff.

Location:  Eastern South Dakota/Southwest Minnesota 

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Collect and analyze on-farm data to find opportunities for Cal24 and SCCL on farms.

  • Learn and apply GENEX value added program portfolio.

  • Provide reproductive and productive management expertise to members that will improve reproductive performance in their herds

  • Summarize and present data to members/customers and other Genex staff

  • Gain an understanding of the VAS suite of software products and be able to accurately relay the benefits of those products to Genex customers.

  • Be willing to work with TOG full-time staff to learn for specific needs on calf’s coming from ET.

  • Represent Genex in a professional and friendly manner at all times.

  • Provide detailed feedback on the summer experience, customer and prospect feedback as well as needs within the industry

Qualifications:

  • Strong dairy background with experience working with dairy cows

  • Degree in Agriculture or equivalent experience is preferred

  • Experience in heat detection on large farms

  • Aggressive sales and service person who is self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must possess communication and people skills

  • Willingness to learn and develop both personally and professionally

  • Computer skills are required; and ability to work with herd management software is a plus
