Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides nurse/clinician with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythm. Monitors heart rhythm patterns to detect, record, and report normal/abnormal heart patterns, normal/abnormal ECG interval measurements and proper/improper pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function utilizing telemetry equipment.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Full Time, Nights, 7:00pm-7:00am
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns and prior variances.
- Observes cardiac monitor and notifies the nursing and/or medical staff of any abnormal heart rhythm variances.
- Manages telemetry equipment and supplies.
- Must successfully complete a competency examination as defined by department competency requirements for Telemetry Monitor Technicians.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree or higher preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to: Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
