Job Description
The EHS Co-op will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team by assisting with inspections, compliance programs, risk assessments, and safety initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in workplace safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory training development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing/operations environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Risk Assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions (Primary).
- Review and update Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) – (Primary)
- Perform Environmental Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Inspections to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain organization in the OSS Room, including marking, labeling, and managing drums according to waste streams.
- Assist with updating and creating GHS labels for products.
- Support the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Program, including updating and maintaining SDS's.
- Use Compliance Quest to document, track, and follow up on safety and environmental activities.
- Provide support with Workers’ Compensation case management, including tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
- Assist in incident and injury investigations, documenting findings and helping to implement corrective actions.
- Participate in the Safety Sign-Off Program, ensuring employees are properly trained and verified for specific tasks.
- Contribute to the development of regulatory training, creating content and supporting training delivery.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Interest in regulatory compliance, safety, and environmental sustainability.
DESIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
- Pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- 1.5 years of remaining undergraduate studies.
- Work at least 12 hours per week while school is in session.
- Flexible work schedule to work around school schedule
- Ability to flex up to 40 hours per week when school is not in session.
