Job Title: Fleet Mechanic Apprentice
Job Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic Apprentice supports the maintenance and repair of company vehicles and equipment under the guidance of senior technicians. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience working on vehicles who is looking to expand their knowledge in a commercial fleet environment. The apprentice will perform intermediate-level mechanical tasks and continue to develop diagnostic and repair skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on fleet vehicles, such as oil changes, brake service, tire replacement, and fluid checks
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Inspect vehicles for wear, damage, and safety concerns; report findings to supervising mechanic
- Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to support repair efforts
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
- Keep shop tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of basic automotive repair experience (professional or hands-on/shop-based)
- Familiarity with automotive systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 95 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment
Preferred:
- Vocational or technical training in automotive or diesel technology
- Experience working on light trucks or service vehicles a plus
