The Vertex Process Development Data Technology Co-Op program is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards undergraduate or advanced degree. What you will be doing:

The Cell and Gene Therapy Process Development team at Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking candidates to implement processes to automate data analysis which will accelerate process understanding and innovation. This opportunity focuses on hands-on experience in data management and data visualization.

Responsibilities include creating automated data workflows from various equipment to electronic notebooks (ELNs); and maintaining databases. This role requires collaboration with multiple teams to contribute to the development and maintenance of data analysis tools and processes.

Potential duties will include:

  • Develop and maintain robust scripts and workflows for automated data retrieval, parsing, and uploading into ELNs from equipment and other sources.
  • Work with scientists to build out data pipelines from ELN to data analysis tools such as JMP and Spotfire.
  • Build data visualization dashboards for real-time analysis in Power BI.
  • Document and help to train team members on data workflows, including scripts, queries, and processes for future use.
  • Support development, alignment, and training of ELN framework across teams.
  • Work with scientists to leverage AI/ML models to detect trends or patterns in the data.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or advanced degree program
  • Strong proficiency in SQL/Python, and/or JSON/JavaScript languages
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft VBA, Power Queries, and Power BI
  • Experience with network mapping and data security
  • Understanding of data management concepts and data visualization techniques
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2026
  • You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January – June 2026
     

Program Details:

  • Full-time, paid co-op $20.00 – 35.00 USD/hour
  • Program Dates: January – June 2026
