Undergrad Intern – Security Risk & Awareness / Global Information Security
Location: Rancho Cordova, CA or St. Petersburg, FL
Start Date: All interns must start in office and in person on June 8, 2026.
Anticipated End Date: August 14, 2026 – All interns must be in office and in person on their last day to return equipment.
Position Summary:
Department Overview
The Global Information Security Risk and Awareness (SR&A) Team is dedicated to ensuring that all Franklin Templeton employees have the knowledge and resources that are necessary to safeguard customer and company confidential data. In support of this objective, the SR&A promotes education and awareness through training sessions, live calls, web based training, etc. Additionally, the SR&A team handles vulnerability risk management including risk analysis, application and web scanning, ethical hacking/penetration testing. Cyber security and cyber risk are ever changing and an integral part of both our everyday lives and our responsibilities as employees.
An internship on the SR&A team is an amazing opportunity to work in an area that is both highly visible and impactful. Awareness education and cyber security risk are vitally important and our education, communications and analysis of cyber security is seen by the entire company. This is a chance to develop a multitude of skills including analysis, public speaking, design, strategic thinking, problem-solving.
Team Culture:
The team is unique in that while it is a small team, its impact is huge. Cyber Security education and risk management are a huge responsibility for any company. Making sure that employees know their roles as well as making sure our systems are secure is an every day, every minute job.
On a team level, we meet several times a week to discuss ideas, opportunities for innovation and improvement and what’s coming up. We are an engaged team, listening to the employee base to know both what we need to provide and how best to reach people.
By the end of the internship, an Intern can expect to learn:
- In depth statistical and data analysis skills include detailed work in Excel. Analysis of data, trends, emerging issues.
- Presentation/communication skills – A big part of the team is presentation, video sessions, live sessions, recorded sessions. Presentations are on a large and small scale. Communications are often sent to the entire company.
- Design – All Security Risk and Awareness content is created directly by the team. This includes infographics, PowerPoint presentations, company wide web-based training, flyers, etc.
Key Responsibilities Can Include:
- Data analysis – Global Information Security is responsible for risk analysis including vulnerability management, analysis of user data, access permissions.
- Awareness Education – The Security Risk and Awareness team is responsible for cyber security education of all employees. This includes presentations, written communications, design, etc.
- Assistance in other areas of Global Information Security as needed
Ideal Qualifications:
- Design – Familiarity with PowerPoint and a creative outlook for designing awareness content. A background or skillset in graphic design, educational training design and creative design.
- Communication skills – Presentations, public speaking, writing clear, concise communications are a key portion of this role. Intern will be involved in speaking/education of small and large audiences.
- Analytical skills – Familiarity with Excel, creating of data tables, trend analysis.

This is a full-time internship where students will work approximately 37.5 (dependent on state/location) hours per week and earn competitive hourly pay of $24 - $26 USD per hour. Hourly pay rates are dependent upon location and function. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
