The Position

Internship Overview

In this position you will learn how Medical Device Digital Products are developed, including new tools and best practices on product risk management, cybersecurity, quality management and agile methodologies such as SCRUM and SAFe. In addition, you could learn how to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team based in several Roche locations, including Switzerland and India. This internship position is located in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist the Product Risk Managers team in the analysis of the safety and cybersecurity risks and plan risk mitigation strategies for medical device standalone software products developed in the R&D department.

  • Support the creation of the documents required by the Quality Management System.

  • Participate in defining new ways to automate processes and improvements. 

  • You will work closely with the R&D team and directly contribute and have an impact on the Medical Device Digital Products, implementing risk strategies and creating the deliverables required by the Quality Management System. 

Who You Are (Qualifications & Skills)

  • To be considered for this internship, applicants must be  ideally  recent graduates within the last three years (or five years for applicants with a disability) in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedicine, Science or a Biotechnology field, possess either the Certificate of Graduation or the Provisional Degree Certificate, and hold a valid work permit for Spain. No previous experience needed.

  • Fluent command of English is a must (please do not apply if this requirement is not met). 

  • Interest in medical devices, risk management activities and medical software development processes. Knowledge of quality and regulatory standards is a plus but not mandatory: ISO 13485, ISO 14971, EU Medical Devices Regulation (MDR), EU In vitro Diagnostics Medical  Devices Regulation (IVDR) and US FDA Standards. 

  • Interest in software development, knowledge of agile software development methodologies is a plus. 

  • Team player who can also work independently and with remote teams. 

  • This position is only available for candidates who have never had a "contrato en prácticas" before.  (Please do not apply if this requirement is not met)
