JOB SUMMARY: 

The Chemist/Laboratory intern position will directly assist the ZECO lab on a wide range of projects related to basic chemical analyses.  The position will conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist the Laboratory Manager and Director of Technical Services in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of Zeco Products. The position will utilize a variety of chemistry techniques to conduct quality control analyses.  When necessary, this individual may assist the product development chemist in setting up laboratory experiments for R&D purposes.

EDUCATION:

Required:  Currently enrolled and persuing a Degree (Undergraduate/Graduate) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Organic/Inorganic chemistry.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:  Some college coursework completed.

Preferred:  Students within their Junior or Senior year of college are preferred. 

POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification

Required: Advanced knowledge of chemistry principles and techniques, ability to work well on a team, high-level analytical skills.

Preferred:  High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.  Ability to work independently and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 


CORE COMPETENCIES (Essential Job Functions)

  • Provide support for QC testing on all Zeco products using wet chemistry, chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.
  • Support research and development projects in the laboratory.
  • Maintain laboratory and corporate records, samples, and equipment.
  • Assist with microbiological testing as requested.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.
  • Complete additional projects as assigned.
