In Person
From target to the clinic. AbCellera’s platform integrates biology, computation, and engineering to develop impactful antibody-based medicines. We’re scientists, engineers, and business professionals who work together to turn scientific insights into breakthrough medicines. We pursue truth and scientific rigor. We think independently, act with conviction, and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown. We offer the opportunity to stretch and explore, and to work on things that matter.
We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field to join our Protein Science team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2026. You will spend your days in the lab utilizing your protein purification experience to help us generate Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs).
While in this position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Protein Science team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.
How you might spend your days
- Learning how to support antibody drug discovery programs by executing antibody conjugation and purification
- Assisting and contributing to purification method development and troubleshooting
- Supporting antibody and ADC purification workflows with preparation of buffers, sample handling, and data analysis
- Learning how to assess critical quality attributes of ADC candidates by helping to perform a range of characterization assays; including, but not limited to, aSEC, icIEF, CE-SDS, HIC and other HPLC characterization assays
- Collaborating with teammates to solve problems, analyze, interpret, and communicate data
- Learning and applying new lab techniques, enhancing your technical skillset
We'd love to hear from you if
- You think critically, are curious, and are excited to learn about and work with ADCs
- You have hands-on experience with protein purification in a laboratory setting; experience with or exposure to AKTA or FPLC chromatography would be a plus
- You are enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, and have previous experience operating in a wet lab environment
- You are a creative problem solver and fast learner who believes in team work to tackle the most challenging scientific problems
- You are self-motivated and have the initiative and drive to meet goals under tight project timelines
- You have excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills with impeccable attention to detail
What we offer
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
