As our Business Development Manager, your primary responsibility will be to identify, engage, and convert new employer partners to grow apprenticeship starts in line with our strategic objectives.
You’ll work collaboratively with marketing and apprenticeship delivery team but will lead on identifying and developing new partnerships with employers – especially those looking to make strategic use of their Apprenticeship Levy.
About You
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in apprenticeship sales, particularly in developing new employer partnerships from scratch.
- Demonstrable success in generating and closing new business deals, ideally in a B2B consultative sales environment.
- A good understanding of Apprenticeship Levy regulations and employer funding mechanisms.
- Experience promoting Leadership and Management apprenticeships is highly desirable.
- Experience with level 4, level 5, level 6 apprenticeships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working independently, managing your own pipeline and targets.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and compliance.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (HubSpot preferred).
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and generate new business opportunities, including participation in events, networking, and lead conversion.
- Act as the first point of contact for new employer enquiries and maintain high levels of customer service throughout the engagement process.
- Deliver against personal and team sales targets, income goals, and KPIs as set by the VP of Business Development.
- Build strong, consultative relationships with employers across both public and private sectors, understanding their organisational goals and training needs.
- Conduct effective training needs analyses to identify opportunities for new apprenticeship programmes.
- Provide expert guidance to employers on the effective use of the Apprenticeship Levy and Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS).
- Collaborate with internal teams across marketing, faculty, operations, and programme management to co-design apprenticeship solutions that align with employer needs and curriculum intent.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the apprenticeship portfolio, using employer feedback, market intelligence, and industry trends to inform new programme design and positioning.
- Ensure CRM system (HubSpot) is kept up to date with all prospect and client activity to support robust pipeline and performance tracking.
- Share market insights and emerging trends with the sales and programme teams to support the development of new offerings.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and compliance with ESFA and Ofsted regulations.
