GFT is seeking an Intern - Transportation Planning to join our Transportation Planning team in Downtown Columbus, OH in the Winter/Spring of 2026! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Columbus office.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing planning services for a wide variety of transportation projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship by experienced engineers and professionals with your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full-time employees. 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Assist in preparing basic planning studies and gathering data for capital planning activities.
  • Collaborate with senior planners and project managers on various transportation projects.
  • Participate in community engagement by attending public meetings and collecting stakeholder input.
  • Support the development of reports, presentations, and documentation related to the capital program.

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • A demonstrated interest in transportation planning through prior internships, work experience, or applied academic coursework.
  • Basic understanding of transportation planning principles and practices.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite and basic graphics software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  What we prefer you bring: 
  • Familiarity with transportation modeling software or GIS applications.
  • Prior experience or coursework related to transportation planning or transit-oriented projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and engage with diverse stakeholders.
Compensation:The hourly range for this role is $22.00 - $25.00.
