Make an impact this Spring 2026. The Cigna Group’s Actuarial Executive Development Program (AEDP) offers a unique part-time actuarial internship designed to immerse you in the work of a full-time actuary while balancing your academic schedule. Over the course of the semester, you’ll take ownership of a business-relevant project, collaborate with experienced actuaries, and gain exposure to the dynamic world of healthcare. This internship is a key pipeline into further opportunities within the AEDP—our primary pathway for developing top actuarial talent.
What You’ll Do:
You’ll own and present a high-impact project aligned with business needs. Past intern projects have included:
- Analyzing cost drivers and forecasting financial trends
- Evaluating the effectiveness of medical policies through data analysis
- Supporting pricing and reserving strategies with actuarial modeling
- Enhancing tools that improve business decision-making
Beyond your project, you’ll participate in:
Developing Business Acumen: Job shadows, leadership lunches, and trainings that deepen your understanding of actuarial work at The Cigna Group.
Professional Development: Mentorship, career coaching, and hands-on experience to build your actuarial toolkit.

What We Look For:
Progress toward a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, with preference for sophomores or students who have completed at least 2 semesters of relevant coursework
Minimum 3.2 GPA
Strong technical and analytical skills; Excel proficiency preferred, coding experience (Python, R, SQL) a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and curiosity
Commitment to professional development and learning the business of healthcare
Program Logistics:
Location: Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT
Work Schedule: January 20 – May 1, 2026
Part-time: 15 hours/week typical, flexible between 10–20 hours/week based on class schedule
Hybrid: Two days in-office per week, remainder remote
Compensation:
Hourly rate starting at $28.00
Transportation assistance for in-office days
Paid study materials for one upcoming actuarial exam
Work Authorization: One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B, CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
