Pharmacometrics is a subgroup of AbbVie’s Clinical Pharmacology (ClinPharm) organization and provides critical scientific support for all phases of pharmaceutical research and development in all divisions of the business. The Pharmacometrics group is conducting Exposure-Clinical response analyses, performing modeling and simulations as well as statistical analyses to optimize dose selection and trial design. The team does this by integrating data from multiple sources including preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, dosing compliance/adherence, effective and toxic exposures, financial metrics, and overall cost/benefit. Another key responsibility of the team is to summarize and present the data and models to regulatory authorities world-wide and authors more than half of the clinical summary documents for global regulatory submissions.  

We are seeking a motivated Pharmacometrics Intern to join our ClinPharm organization. Internship projects could vary and are dependent on therapeutic area needs. Current therapeutic areas ClinPharm supports are Immunology, Oncology, Neurology, and Specialty assets.   

Key project responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in developing population PK/PD models 
  • Analyze clinical trial data using statistical and modeling software 
  • Support the design and optimization of clinical trials 
  • Generate presentation to internal stakeholders  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Pharmacometrics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering or other related field 
  • Must be returning to university for at least one semester following the internship  
  • Proficiency in statistical or modeling software (e.g., NONMEM, R, Python or MATLAB) 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027 
  • Exposure to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and/or modeling of dynamic systems
