The Opportunity

As an Industrial Design Co-op at Frontgate, you will step into the dynamic role of a full-time designer, taking on significant responsibilities while gaining invaluable hands-on experience in luxury product development. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Product Development and Merchandising teams, contributing to the creation of innovative, high-end products that resonate with our discerning clientele. You will balance managing your own design projects with assisting a dedicated Senior Designer, who will provide mentorship and guidance throughout your co-op. This dual role allows you to develop your skills, take ownership of meaningful work, and contribute to the broader product development process, from ideation to market-ready solutions. 

In this position, you will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities, including designing and developing new products, supporting senior team members, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure designs align with Frontgate’s luxury brand standards. You will have the autonomy to manage your own workload while also playing a supportive role in larger team projects, gaining exposure to the full spectrum of product development. This internship is designed to challenge you creatively, enhance your technical skills, and prepare you for a successful career in industrial design.

You will report to a Sr. Designer 

Your Impact

• You will assist a dedicated Senior Designer, supporting their projects while receiving guidance and mentorship.

• You will create high-quality sketches, renderings, and technical drawings using industry-standard tools to effectively communicate design concepts to internal teams and external partners.

• You will contribute to cross-functional team discussions to ensure design aligns with brand standards and customer expectations

• You will conduct research on market trends, materials, and manufacturing processes to inform design decisions.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• You will have the capability to manage and assist with multiple projects and deadlines.

• You will be collaborative, and able to work with our team.

• You will be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop) and CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360).

• Curious and open to learning.

• Remote work is not permitted in NYC at this time.
