Job Description
The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Animal Health division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals
The International Veterinary Health (IVH) team at our Company's Animal Health division works with governments and intergovernmental agencies throughout the world on the control of transboundary and emerging diseases with a One Health impact. Key diseases are rabies, Foot and Mouth Disease, Lumpy Skin Disease, Tuberculosis, and Avian Influenza.
The team has a One Health One Welfare approach to their work. They work on innovative approaches to disease control, with the integration of technology to help disease surveillance and vaccination monitoring. They are responsible for the emergence website providing information on disease outbreaks, and the emergence podcast featuring experts in many disease areas.
About the position:
The successful applicant will be a member of the International Veterinary Health team during the period of the practicum and will be involved in team meetings and planning sessions. Working with the team, the candidate will gain a full understanding of the role of the pharmaceutical industry in improving both human and animal lives. The candidate will learn about public-private partnerships and see them in action, as well as gain insights into the political drivers and barriers to disease control. The candidate will be a part of meetings that discuss disease control and how to introduce true solutions to make national vaccination campaigns more effective.
Specific projects may vary, dependent on the needs and priorities of the department at the time while taking into account specific interests of the applicant.
Previous projects include:
Development of disease communication materials
Development of technical bulletins for governments
Planning of social media programs
Planning of awareness campaigns, ex. Rabies360 Challenge
Disease and market analysis
Global policy review of specific diseases
Development of a customer management system
Logistics support, helping manage deliveries of vaccines
The incorporation of technology and data management into health solutions
Terms:
This is a full-time co-op position. The start date is negotiable and the position will be for a duration of 3-6 months
The co-op position is based in New Jersey; therefore, it is expected for the candidate to relocate to New Jersey during the co-op, as this will provide the greatest opportunities for networking and meeting others. Accommodation is not provided, although the successful applicant can be connected with other interns and co-ops to potential share lodging.
Travel: International travel may be required to team meetings or conferences as applicable. The Company will cover the expenses of such or any other assignments under this co-op.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
Candidates must be enrolled in a Master's of Public Health or Veterinary Public Health program.
Candidates must have an interest in animal health, with a focus on veterinary public health.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal/communication, writing, presentation skills, and professional demeanor.
Candidates must have general computer skills, which includes working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Candidates must have the ability to be organized, adapt to a changing environment, and prioritize accordingly, work independently and as part of a team.
Candidates must demonstrate high ethical standards.
Project Follow-Up:
The candidate could be involved in one or more of the projects listed above, projects that could be extended pass the internship period and which could allow the further involvement of the Candidate after the in-person portion of the internship is completed. Examples of such extended collaboration would be: finishing peer-review publications, finalizing data analysis or educational campaigns, attending conferences or scientific meetings taken place outside the period of the internship, etc. Details of such volunteer engagement would be discussed in a case-by-case basis. This follow up would not be paid.

Salary range:
The salary range for this role is $39,600.00-$105,500.00 USD
