We have 6 places available on our 18-month Care Apprenticeship Programme – open to anyone who is passionate about helping others. You don’t need previous care experience, and you don’t even need to live in Fife (as long as you can travel to your placement).
What’s In It For You?

- Full Training Provided – no experience needed, just enthusiasm and commitment.
- College Learning Built In – one day a week study as part of your working hours.

How It Works
Our apprenticeship is split into three parts

Part 2 – Weekly college attendance (during paid working hours) to study for your qualification.
Part 3 – Completion of your qualification, career guidance, and progression opportunities.
Where You Could Work
As a Care Apprentice, you’ll be part of the Health & Social Care Partnership, employed by Fife Council working across Fife. Working 36 hours per week over a variety of shifts predominantly days and evenings and you may want to experience night shifts. All our shifts include day release to college.
You could be placed in one of two service types
Placements could include:
- Adult Services Resources, Accommodation with Care and Support which provides care and support to adults 16+, who have a learning disability, physical disability or mental health condition living in the community.
- Alternatively, our Care at Home Service supports people across Fife to live safely and independently in their own homes. A key element of this is MECS – the Mobile Emergency Care Service. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, MECS responds to urgent calls in the community, including falls, personal care, welfare checks, or when someone becomes unwell at home. MECS staff are trained to assess situations quickly, using specialised equipment, provide reassurance, deliver hands-on support, and escalate concerns to health or social care professionals when needed. Their work is vital in ensuring people receive the right help at the right time.
You will gain real-life experience to learn essential care skills, and you will join a team of experienced professionals who will mentor and support you every step of the way!
