Firmware Test Co-Op

Emerson is looking for a Firmware Test Engineering Co-op for Spring or Fall 2026 to join our Marshalltown, IA team. This is an outstanding chance to gain real-world experience in a collaborative environment while working on projects that will truly make a difference. This position is a temporary 8-month co-op assignment from January 2026-August 2026 or May 2026-December 2026. 

 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Engage firmware team to interpret upstream requirements to design, document, and implement supporting validations 
• Perform project and product documentation in accordance to departmental and company procedures and standards 
• Collaborate with other members of the project team to deliver features that are implemented, tested, and documented 
• Design, assemble, and maintain test fixtures

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university
• Major(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering 
• Ability to effectively work in a team environment 
• Ability to understand basic mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems 
• Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills 
• Programming experience in C#, C++, or similar object-oriented programming languages 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Knowledge of common software test methods 
• Familiarity with continuous integration tools (TeamCity, Jenkins) 
• Experience with distributed version control 
• Experience with ARM embedded processor platforms 
• Commitment to full-time (40 hour) Spring (Jan 2026- August 2026) or Fall (May 2026- December 2026) Co-op experience in Marshalltown, IA. 
• Legal authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
