Job Description:

This role is a Product Management Internship within the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Business Unit. This candidate will actively pursue the development of Feature requirements related to developer and workstation user personas. The candidate will conduct customer research directly and through the Red Hat field sales organization and document the resulting synthesized requirements into formal Requirements that our software Engineering team can deliver against.

Note: This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information requiring special treatment in accordance with Red Hat policies and applicable privacy laws.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct direct discussions with end customers, clients, of Red Hat in order to discover key requirements for their use of RHEL as a platform

  • Collaborate across multiple Product Managers to understand and set relative requirement priorities for new Features

  • Record new requirements in Jira or other development tracking systems

  • Engage with Engineering to validate understanding of what detail is needed within a Feature that helps them execute on delivery

  • Collaborate with RHEL Product Marketing on Feature descriptions that describe the value and problem that we are solving to our target audience

Experience Requested:

  • Experience with Linux platforms ideally

  • Strong communication skills at multiple levels ranging from customers unfamiliar with our products to executives inside Red Hat

  • Ability to synthesize information, ask follow-up questions in order to discover deeper requirements that would drive future product development

  • Experience with developing on a Linux platform and or with a Linux workstation is ideal

  • Ability to work with multiple teams across multiple time zones

  • Ideally, familiarity with multiple development methods such as Agile, waterfall, Scrum, and prioritization tools such as Kanban boards, Jira tickets and similar

  • Proven ability to collaborate and even influence without direct authority

  • Some form of product or project management in a technical team
