As an HSSE Intern, you will support the strategic initiatives of the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) department. You will assist in enhancing compliance and driving continuous improvement at both local and global levels within the organization. This role provides an opportunity to gain high-level exposure to HSSE practices and contribute to the company's overall safety and environmental objectives.
The HSSE Intern will be responsible for:
- Improving existing systems to streamline HSSE processes
- Analyzing HSSE data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Participate in the annual risk assessment review project
- Assisting with the development and enhancement of HSSE tools
The HSSE Intern also will learn about the following:
- Observe HMH’s workplace culture by interacting with different functions
- Exposure to health, safety and environmental programs and requirements
- Develop professional communication skills with Executive Leadership
- Experience working with a multinational team across the globe
Skills/Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled at the time internship commences and working toward completion of Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college with Finance/Accounting majors preferred.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Good interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across multiple functions to achieve desired results.
- Ability to work independently or within a larger team as required by the project and subsystem.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office products, i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status.
