As a valued intern on our Actuarial Reserving team, you will be given real meaningful work as well as support and guidance from our actuaries as you continue on your exam path.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

  • Perform and prepare quarterly reserve reviews to support adequate and accurate reserves recorded

  • Create and distribute Quarterly Reserve Report

  • Create and distribute CAT reporting, including a process for tracking incurred claims against reserve indication on a monthly basis;

  • Monitor loss emergence against plan assumptions and provide summaries to management

  • Create and distribute Monthly AvE: CAT, Large Loss and Attritional;

  • Develop and monitor monthly metrics to identify any trends in loss costs with a process oriented toward maintaining stable attritional LRs


Technical Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Passed at least one Actuarial Exam strongly preferred

  • Basic Excel experience 

  • Interest in insurance industry 

  • Knowledge of actuarial exam process 

  • Strong organization and communication skills 

  • ​The ability to learn, understand, and apply technical concepts

  • Ownership of tasks

  • Works within deadlines with guidance.

  • Able to manage time and prioritize with guidance

  • Adapts future behaviors based on prior mistakes

  • Accepts and reacts positively to feedback

  • Seeks out assistance as needed

Experience:

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field

  • Demonstrate sufficient progress in understanding and applying basic actuarial principles is required

  • Studying for CAS preliminary exams; may have 1-2 passed
