Role Description

As a2026 Summerintern on the GAO Quality Assurance & Automation team, you willbe involved in activities related to the analysis of business and user needs for an enhanced control environment, documentation of requirements for organizational efficiency, andimplantation, integration and development of activities into proper system requirement specifications. 

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?  

In your role, you will develop process narratives and flowcharts that will identify the control environment for various teams across multiple platforms. Through participation in a structured project management process, you will participate in each step of our quality assurance processThis will allow you to fully understand a process and activityparticipate in the development of additional, enhanced and automated controls. Usingthis knowledge, you will be involved in the use of exciting and cutting-edgetechnology that includes the delivery ofservice-orientedautomations that will enable teams to function at a high efficiency and reduce risk from errors related to manual touchpoints.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identification and assessment of probable interactions of related computer systems and impact assessment of a change in assigned systems. 
  • Review proposals, including gathering facts, analyzing data and preparing project overview which compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, availability of equipment and personnel etc. Recommends course of action.
  • Functions as a liaison between the client, community, and internal IT and/or external software vendors to develop system solutions to processing systems or business problems.
  • Ensures data quality and integrity across data-specific application implementations.
  • Supports the testing team and business users in validating that the programs meet the requirements.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Own the customer experience - think and act in ways that put our customers first, give them seamless digital options at every touchpoint, and make them promoters of our products and services. 
  • Know your stuff - be enthusiastic learners, users and advocates of our game-changing technology, products and services, especially our digital tools and experiences.

PreferredSkills

  • Advanced Excel knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience in Alteryx, Data360, Oracle Fusion is a plus.
  • Preferred Majors: Finance, Accounting, Business Information Systems

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university
  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2026- Spring 2028)
  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2026 semester before graduating) 
  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program starting June 1, 2026, through August 14, 2026
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation

Base Pay: $26.00
