About the Role & Program
KABC-TV (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV), located in Glendale, near downtown Los Angeles. Our station is in the #2 ranked television market in the country. Weekly, ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns! ABC7 Los Angeles has the top TV news website and app in the LA market, and we have the largest social media following of any station in the entire country.
The internship program is designed to provide you with an on-site educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operations of a major market television station.
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2026 to early June 2026.
What You Will Do
Do you have a passion for content creating and connecting with the community? We are looking for an intern to join our team to participate in our audience engagement strategy and production for the ABC7 Community efforts online, on-air and through social media! This may also include audience engagement strategy we implement for public affairs, community events and special events, including red carpet premieres. The audience engagement department is also responsible for the ABC7 Street Team which attends over 50 events throughout the year.
Be part of the social media engagement strategy for our various programs and franchises, including storytelling for the web and creating social media content
Identify photos/videos for social posts and clear them for use on-air and to share on social platforms
Maintain the database of approvals from viewers/followers and respond to Instagram direct messages and X, formerly known as Twitter, and Threads replies
Engage on social posts with likes and comments, and identify stories to post on ABC7 social platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram and Threads.
Select recipients and send ABC7 merchandise to Eyewitnesses, notify Eyewitnesses when their photo/video will air, email clips of the broadcast afterward, and keep track of and curate the Eyewitness List
Post articles to abc7.com/community and support the marketing of abc7.com, ABC7’s social platforms, On The Red Carpet, and ABC7 Community
Have the opportunity to identify, film and edit community-focused stories to share on-air and online
Assist the team with community engagement at festivals and events, which entails handing out giveaways and taking pictures with ABC7 marketing collateral
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
Experience with using the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Premiere
Major or previous coursework in Film & Television, Communications or related major
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in and knowledge of using social media platforms to post and create content
Completed coursework in producing, writing, editing, and/or videography
Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
Education
Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2026 through early June 2026
Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in California is $17.81 per hour.
