Geotab is seeking 3 Hardware Developer Interns who will be supporting the Hardware team in the design and verification of Geotab Telematics devices and/or auxiliary devices. What you'll do:
As a Hardware Developer Intern, your key area of responsibility will need to work closely with your colleagues on the Hardware team, as well as Mechanical, Embedded system, Design Verification, and Production teams. To be successful in this role you will need to be independent, detail oriented, with a keen desire to learn more.
The opportunity:
Please note that we are hiring 3 interns (2 Hardware Developer Interns, and 1 PLM & Prototype Intern)
- 12-16 month work-term beginning May 2026.
- Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.

How you'll make an impact:
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) & Prototype Intern (16-months)
- Manage the administration of Geotab’s PLM system, by completing data uploads such as Bill of Materials (BOM); library files and other supporting documentation.
- Review data within the PLM system for data integrity and accuracy for seamless product development and manufacturing processes. Notify the Hardware Team of any discrepancies.
- Create PLM training material and conduct hands-on PLM system training sessions using Google Workspace.
- Answer PLM related inquiries, through Google Workspace and/or JIRA with guidance from Hardware Developers (as applicable).
- Assist in preparing and testing materials (e.g., circuit boards, electrical components) for hardware prototype builds with guidance from the Hardware Project Lead.
- Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders (CMs and printed circuit board (PCB) shops) to help meet the requirements for a prototype build from the hardware development team, to adhere to timelines and inventory.
- Support Hardware Engineering team with designing Altium footprints using Altium Designer (as applicable).
Hardware Developer Intern, RF (12-months)
- Hardware verification against board requirements and debug hardware issues.
- Prototyping and testing new hardware designs (ie: oscilloscope, vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
- Writing investigation reports in a clear and readable manner.
Hardware Developer Intern, Baseband (12-months)
- Design schematics and Printed Circuit Boards in Altium
- Build and assemble Printed Circuit Assembly prototypes
- Create test plans and verify new circuit designs
- Perform testing using oscilloscopes, temperature chambers, and other lab equipment
- Research new technologies
- Creating and releasing professional documentation
- Maintaining and organizing physical inventory using Databases
- Optimizing and finding efficiencies with scripts and other innovative solutions
What you'll bring to the role:
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics degree program.
- Familiarity with reading schematic and/or PCB layout designs.
- Ability to dig deep and learn without supervision.
- Basic knowledge of wireless communications.
- Experience soldering and working hands-on with electronics.
- Experience with Altium Designer or any other ECAD software.
- Experience with RF equipment.
