Orna Therapeutics, Inc. is a Watertown-based biotechnology startup on a mission to create therapies for diseases inaccessible to existing approaches. We are seeking a highly motivated Co-Op to join our Delivery Science team Watertown, MA. The successful candidate will work to develop, optimize, and evaluate targeted lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations for the in vivo delivery of therapeutic cargos.  In this cross-functional, fast-paced role, she/he will gain technical hands-on experience in bioconjugation and formulation development.  A suitable candidate will show passion and enthusiasm for understanding targeted drug delivery for developing next-generation therapies for patients suffering from genetic diseases.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing experimental plans for bioconjugation of antibodies, proteins and peptides in lipid nanoparticles.
  • Conduct optimization experiments with guidance.
  • Maintain up-to-date and detailed records of laboratory procedures, results, and conclusions in electronic lab notebook system
  • Design and support LNP and bioconjugation analytical characterization
  • Perform routine LNP and oRNA analysis
  • Run standard and design novel HPLC and MS methods with guidance.
  • Execute and design experiments in collaboration with the overall Production team to meet timelines and deliverables
  • Assist in data management and trending
  • Provide hands-on assistance with good lab practices (i.e. inventory creation and maintenance; lab organization and safety compliance; equipment tracking, maintenance and service issues; etc)
  • Deliver verbal updates or oral presentations during internal scheduling meetings


Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. candidate in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to communicate and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Hands on lab experience is preferred.
