This co-op will be hybrid, and students must be located near one of our U.S. offices – Wellesley, MA; Kansas City, MO; Hartford, CT; Portland, ME; Milwaukee, WI.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our Agile Delivery team as a Scrum Master intern. In this hybrid role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of agile delivery operations.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Participate and facilitate the scrum ceremonies: for example, daily stand up, product backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams: work closely with product, engineering, UX to understand the end-to-end relationship for the product.
Support teams in their efforts to continuously improve, with the opportunity to promote your own ideas and observations
Build relationships within their teams and across the larger team of teams including other Scrum Masters and Release Train Engineers (RTE).
Participate in training and development: Engage in learning opportunities to expand your technical knowledge and skills.
Work closely with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
With support from the Agile Delivery team, learn techniques for managing risk and resolving conflicts.
Help build a productive environment where team members “own” the product and enjoy working on it
Core skill sets needed for this role:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Familiarity with the scrum framework with all its artifacts and techniques.
Ability to coordinate people and product work with your mindset on deliverables.
Understanding of when changes could and should be introduced to the Scrum team.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with both remote and on-site components.
Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to take on new challenges.
The Candidate
To be eligible for a co-op at Sun Life, you must meet the following requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university during the time of the co-op (January 2026 – June 2026)
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, or a related field
Eligible to legally work in the United States
Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during co-op session
Compensation for this role will be around $25 an hour.
