Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders.

What you will be doing as a Retail Design Intern:
The Retail Design Internship focuses on developing creative design solutions for the interiors of Meijer stores. The objective of the Design Intern projects are to create cohesive looks throughout our stores by focusing on creating unique merchandising and operational fixture designs, development of interior graphics that are permanently mounted to store walls and/or suspended from the ceiling, and overall departmental aesthetics to create an immersive shopping and team member experience. Major design milestones are forecast out for the internship project, and the Design Intern meets with internal business stakeholders to review concepts and receive feedback with the objective of gaining alignment on their final design proposals. The works of previous Retail Design Interns have become actual design elements that Meijer uses in our stores - this internship provides real world professional design experience where your concepts have a chance of being installed in our stores for years to come.
The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:

Qualifications:
- Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architectural Design, Graphic Design, or Industrial Design
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Developing skills in 2D design utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite
- Developing skills in 3D design utilizing SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Rhinoceros or related software
- Understanding design trends and how to interpret them in real world scenarios
- Attention to Detail – ensures specifications are accurate
- Communication Skills - conveys the right information visually, verbally and in writing
- Customer focus - creating unique environments for shoppers
- Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers
- Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies
- Organized - uses resources effectively and arranges information and presentations in an easy to understand manner
