During this exciting program, you'll dive into diverse digital solutions and platforms and apply industry-leading project management methodologies to deliver critical business projects, directly contributing to our success and your degree.

The apprenticeship gives you the unique opportunity to work in a wide variety of disciplines including: 

  • Data Analytics 

  • Cyber Security 

  • IT Service Delivery Management 

  • Operations Digitalisation & Automation

  • Software Development

  • Information Management 

Over the 3 years, alongside your workplace commitments, you will achieve a fully funded BSc (Hons) in Applied Data Science. The completion of this degree will be intertwined with your work based experiences, part of which will directly contribute to your degree. 

You will be studying via our partner Bangor University and local colleges. Your industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Broughton (near Chester), North Wales. Please note, this will require some travel on day release study to a college in North Wales.

We are also believers in experiential learning too, and there are many events that take place that offer exciting opportunities to grow and develop whilst also having fun!

What you will be doing:

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of on the job training at Airbus, and university based learning on day release over the duration of the 3 year programme. You will learn and apply cutting-edge Applied Data Science principles to real-world business challenges. You'll gain invaluable hands-on experience that not only contributes to your degree but also directly adds significant value to our operations.

Key activities of the industry based work of this apprenticeship may include: 

  • Driving Data-Led Performance: Leading and participating in data analytics projects focused on enhancing our manufacturing performance and extracting actionable insights from complex datasets.

  • Innovating with Digital Tools: Researching, evaluating, and developing new digital and AI-powered tools to boost the efficiency of our IT product development lifecycle.

  • Shaping Product Development: Engaging in product development initiatives, encompassing the analysis, design, testing, and seamless integration of IT solutions.

  • Crafting Bespoke Software: Developing and customizing tailored software solutions that adapt to our evolving business needs and market demands.

  • End-to-End Project Management: Managing projects from inception, including gathering requirements, defining technical specifications, architecting solutions, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and overseeing project timelines.

During this time, you will also get to work with various teams in our engineering, design, quality, operations, cyber security, IT solutions and help desk teams, whilst also having the opportunity to pick placements outside of your area of study, including HR, facilities management, recruitment, finance and much more.

Requirements:

This is an ideal role for someone with a keen interest in digital technology, Internet of Things, mobile apps, data analytics, cybersecurity, Generative AI and future tech.

In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship you must have a minimum of either:

  • 3 A-Levels as grade C/4 or above, with at least one in Maths, Sciences and IT 

OR

  • BTEC L3 Extended Diploma and Cambridge Technical Diplomas inMaths, Science or IT/Digital subject, at minimum MMM grade 

OR

  • Access to HE Diploma MeritLevel in eitherMaths, Scienceor an IT subject

OR

  • Welsh Baccalaureatewith either a Maths, Science or an IT subject at H grades

OR

  • Equivalent qualifications/Experience subject to validation

AND

  • GCSEs 4/C or above inMaths

**Please note that, due to the funded nature of this programme, applicants with undergraduate degrees in computing/IT are not eligible.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Digitally Savvy: Comfortable with tools like Google Workspace

  • Self motivated and keen to develop themselves;

  • Good listeners and communicators;

  • Happy to work on a wide variety of tasks;

  • Able to organize and manage priorities.

  • Familiar with languages (e.g., Python, SQL, JavaScript), data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), or cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure) is beneficial, but not required.

  • Submit CV stating grades and if they are predicted or achieved;
