At Johnson & Johnson Robotics and Digital Solutions, we're changing the trajectory of health for humanity, using robotics to enhance healthcare providers’ abilities and improve diagnoses, treatments, and recovery times for patients. Johnson & Johnson Robotics was established in 2020 with the integration of Auris Health, Verb Surgical, C-SATS, and Ethicon. It comprises three key med-tech platforms: Flexible Robotics (MONARCH®), Surgical Robotics (OTTAVA™) and Digital Solutions. The CO-OP Program is a six-month program focused on providing college students with practical industrial experience in OTTAVA™ operations. It allows students to develop leadership, technical and communication skills as well as broaden their understanding of the concepts learned in the classroom by implementing with Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain Operations team. Co-op program participant roles include production operations, warehouse operation, data analysis, project management support, problem solving, active business partnering and developing innovative methods to improve job metrics and processes.

Terms: Jan to Aug 2026 (Flexible depending on the candidate’s actual availability)

Location: Santa Clara, California. On-site only.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing, Test, R&D, Quality Engineering teams (including Production) to design, develop, document, and qualify the manufacturing process for electro-mechanical components and subassemblies of a surgical robotics system.
  • Perform gap analysis for manufacturing and test processes.
  • Collect, analyze, & report process data.
  • Collaborate with external and internal suppliers to support key projects.
  • Lead small technical projects and process changes.
  • Support local community through the Credo inspired events and activities.
  • Will provide direct support to the OTTAVA™ program and reporting directly into OTTAVA™ NPI Operations

Qualifications

Education:

  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences
  • Preferred majors are: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.

Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Currently in their junior/senior year.
  • Must have transportation to and from work daily.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in projects or other activities.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to drive projects/tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Must have the ability to work individually as well as on a team.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of tools such as DOE’s, Statistical methods, CAD (SolidWorks/Pro-E/AutoCAD), GD&T, Failure Analysis Techniques (Fault tree, Fish Bone Diagram), and Gap Analysis Techniques.
  • Participation in campus/community service activities

The expected pay range for this position is between $31.00 per hour and $59.00 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
