In addition to the job duties and responsibilities outlined herein, this position will participate in a structured internship experience through the Transformational Federal Work-Study (TFWS) Internship Program.

If selected, interns must enroll in either UNST 3910 (1 cr.) or UNST 3920 (1 cr.) for the Fall semester and will be assigned additional responsibilities to incorporate experiential learning and develop workforce readiness competencies. Interns will work directly with their supervisor to identify semester goals and will receive regular feedback related to job performance and skill development.

Internships are best suited for students in their 2nd – 4th years. 

Clemons Library at the University of Virginia is seeking student Circulation Assistants for the 2025-26 school year. The Library Circulation Assistant will provide customer service at the Clemons 4th floor main desk.  The position duties include, but are not limited to, checking out books, videos, and equipment items to patrons,answering generalinformational questions; checking in returned materials and getting them organized and re-shelved; providing basic IT support for printers and desktop computers.

The Clemons Library main desk is staffed with student assistants from 8am to 2am, and all days of the week. Weekly work schedules are built around student class schedules and availability. Extra consideration will be given to students who are willing and able to work early morning shifts, late night shifts, and/or weekend shifts.

Students with work-study are strongly preferred, but it is not an absolute requirement.For a student hired as work-study, the position start date is 8/26/25, and the end date is 5/8/26.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
