As part of Vanguard’s Risk & Security Analyst track, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding our systems and data—day in and day out. This immersive internship offers hands-on experience at one of the world’s leading investment firms, with extensive training, meaningful assignments, and mentorship from seasoned professionals to help you grow your technical expertise.

You’ll gain exposure to the full software lifecycle and contribute to initiatives that directly impact our clients. Make it count.

In this internship you will:

  • Drive security strategies that help Vanguard perform at its best and protect investors from emerging threats.

  • Support client outcomes by contributing to our mission of giving investors the best chance at investment success.

  • Build skills in policy enforcement, threat intelligence, incident response, and security automation.

  • Build skills in analytical thinking, technical writing, and data-driven decision-making

  • Gain hands-on experience in security strategy, risk mitigation, and digital ethics while practicing Agile & LEAN methodologies

  • Share your insights and drive outcomes both individually and in collaborative, supportive environments.

  • Network with program managers, alumni, senior leaders, and peers to build lasting professional relationships.

  • Receive personalized coaching and mentorship through regular check-ins with your department manager and internship program manager.

What it takes

  • In pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree with a concentration in computer science, computer engineering, IST, IT, CIS, Security, Risk, Cybersecurity or related technical/engineering subject matter required
  • Strong interest in security/threat analysis, fraud mitigation, and reporting
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and/or leadership aspirations
  • Effective analytical, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a team-oriented environment
