The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about national security and eager to launch your career in the defense industry? Join our team as a Facility Security Officer Intern during the summer of 2026 and play a crucial role in safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring compliance with government regulations. You must be available to work 100% on-site at our Southern Pines, NC location. As an FSO Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in the critical field of industrial security. You'll work alongside seasoned professionals, learning to protect classified information, manage security clearances, and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agency requirements.


Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of security programs in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)
• Support the management of personnel security clearances and visit authorizations
• Help conduct security education and awareness training for employees
• Assist in maintaining security databases and preparing reports
• Support security inspections and self-assessments
• Aid in the development and review of security policies and procedures
• Participate in classified material control and destruction processes
• Assist in coordinating with government agencies on security matters

Qualifications:

Required: 

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Psychology or related field
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
• Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance
• Strong interest in industrial security and the defense industry
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Desired:

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred, but not required 
• Previous internship/co-op or other work experience

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$39,400 - $57,500
