This Engineering Summer and Fall Co-op position will work with the Avionics Advanced Manufacturing team in the Cedar Rapids, IA facility. This co-op will run from May or June (depending on starting month) to early December, and you would need to take the fall semester off. We’re looking for an engineering student interested in learning engineering principles used in manufacturing to help us develop the next generation aerospace manufacturing technology. If selected, you will become familiar with Industry 4.0 concepts, state of the art manufacturing techniques, and driving adoption technology in a production setting. This is an onsite role, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role may be eligible for relocation. Some travel required, up to 10%.
What You Will Do:
- You will identify use cases for new technology manufacturing tools and machines.
- You will design and plan layout for Smart factory assembly and materials handling equipment.
- You will help plan and participate in process flow design.
- You will work on analysis of various manufacturing data, i.e. Work In Process (WIP), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- You will research and report on design concepts to optimize deployment of manufacturing techniques.
What You Will Learn:
- Will gain knowledge about IIOT (Industrial Internet of Things) and how it can be used to optimize existing manufacturing processes.
- Understand how to use the mass amount of data collected from Smart Factory solutions.
- How to work within a team to inspire positive change in manufacturing operations.
- Reporting and presentation skills.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Experience with CAD modeling.
- PLC/Controls experience
- Knowledge of Lean principles and concepts.
- Ability to work independently.
