About Base
Base is building the foundation of American power. The grid is the largest, most complex machine in the world. Yet it’s aging, struggling to keep up with today’s demand, and is unprepared for our electrified future.
Base is modernizing the grid as the first engineering-led, technology-driven power company. We’re deploying a nationwide network of distributed batteries that strengthens critical infrastructure and saves Americans money.
Our team of engineers, operators, creatives, technicians, and electricians design and deploy systems at speed. If you want to tackle the problem that will define this century and shape the future of American energy, now is the time. Join us.
About the Role
As a Factory Construction Intern, you’ll get hands-on experience bringing a factory to life - designing and standing up the processes that make our products real. You’ll work alongside engineers, operators, and builders in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, contributing to everything from facility layouts to construction progress tracking. This is a chance to learn by doing, where your work will directly shape how we deliver affordable energy at scale.
What You’ll Do
Support coordination between civil engineering team and manufacturing team to align facility design with production requirements.
Assist with reviewing interior build-out plans, MEP layouts, warehouse racking, and equipment move-in logistics to ensure efficient setup and compliance with requirements.
Participate in design and construction meetings, capturing action items and tracking progress on civil-related deliverables.
Contribute to quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, and documentation for civil works tied to the factory build.
Conduct field visits to observe construction activities, verify work against plans, and report findings to the project team.
What You’ll Bring
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage details across multiple stakeholders.
Interest in facility design, construction methods, and how they intersect with manufacturing operations.
Ability to read or interpret construction drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.
Eagerness to participate in fieldwork, site walks, and hands-on problem solving.
Analytical mindset for tracking costs, quantities, and progress against plans.
Clear communication skills for documenting action items and sharing findings with cross-functional teams.
Proactive, “learn by doing” attitude with willingness to dive into new technical areas.
Why Base?
You won’t be stuck on the sidelines. At Base, interns contribute to meaningful product work that ships. You’ll gain real experience with real stakes–mentored by engineers who’ve built systems at scale across the energy, aerospace, and hardware industries.
This is a chance to make a dent in the energy transition, not just study it. Come help us build something better.
If you're passionate about technology and want to make a real difference in power grid stability and energy reliability, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help us build the future of energy.
Our Values
We’re building a winning culture and we’re looking for people who are up for the challenge. Here’s what we expect from day one:
In-Person Only: We work full-time in the office. No hybrid. No remote.
Challenge the Status Quo: Question assumptions. Fix broken systems. Principles > rules.
Move Fast: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble. Challenge ideas–including your own.
Own the Outcome: Take full responsibility. Deliver results. No excuses.
Act Like an Owner: Be resourceful, mindful of impact, and committed to the business.
Be Decisive: Drive clarity. Make bold calls with imperfect info.
Bring the Intensity: This is not a 9-to-5. We're building something hard which requires real commitment.
