Our Internships

We are looking for passionate and motivated students who are interested in pursuing a career in media to join our team! This program is a paid, ten week summer internship.

Our internships offer the opportunity to connect and collaborate across the FT — in the US and globally. You’ll develop ideas that help drive our growth, present your work to US leadership, and gain valuable insights from across the business. Plus, you’ll be paired with a dedicated Buddy to provide mentorship and support throughout your experience.

We’ve embraced a 50% hybrid working model (averaging two to three days onsite) that fosters trust and adaptability while encouraging in-person camaraderie and peer learning.

The Team

Reporting into the Account Director, the Advertising Sales Summer Intern will be responsible for assisting with comprehensive sales planning for key advertising clients and media agencies across the US. The Sales team generates in excess of $30 million in revenue, and provides advertising solutions across all platforms of the FT portfolio.

Key responsibilities

  • Master the FT digital and print product portfolio
  • Thoroughly understand FT editorial mission and readership profile
  • Participate in all stages of the sales process from pre to post sale 
  • Grasp marketplace nuances across B2B and B2C advertising clients
  • Account Management: assist Sales team with RFPs and ad hoc partnership projects 
  • Prospecting clients: Tear-sheet competitor publications both in print and digital. Identify & contact new business leads and target brands to make initial introduction of FT’s proposition & set up meetings
  • Attend meetings with prospective and existing clients and assist with preparation and follow up materials 
  • Manage client e-mailings, mailings, Salesforce updates, and other communications
  • Campaign Management: Work closely with digital ad ops team to monitor results and optimize campaigns.
  • Work closely with research teams to provide proactive data to clients and create sales narratives for new business
  • Assist the US Commercial Marketing Manager with tasks relating to upcoming external events 
  • Research factors impacting the overall media landscape across B2B & B2C secrtors
  • Prepare a capstone project to be presented to the Sales team at the end of the internship

Required skills/experience

  • This is a client-facing role, therefore integrity, professionalism, and strong written and verbal skills are required
  • Willingness to work in a sales-driven and fast-paced team environment and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate with high-level marketing and advertising clients in a professional setting as well as internal partners
  • Strong Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills. Salesforce and AI fluency are a plus. 
  • Confidence and personality which will build strong relationships internally and externally 
  • A strong interest in media, both digital and print
  • An interest in and basic understanding of global finance, world issues and lifestyle categories

About the Internship

  • The internship will be full time from June 1st 2026 - Aug 7th 2026. Before applying, please ensure you will be available on these dates.
  • This is a hybrid internship, meaning you are required to work from our New York office at least 2-3 days per week, the rest of the week can be from home.

Further information

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $17 per hour. To ensure pay fairness, the successful candidate will be offered a rate within the estimated range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skills; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organisational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
