The Badger Meter Internship Program provides hands-on, real-world experience to students through projects that make a difference! In addition to your projects, you will be given the opportunity to participate in our robust Intern program focused on Badger Meter culture, professional development, community outreach and a final capstone project.

Badger Meter is hiring a Software Engineering Intern this summer onsite at our Los Gatos facility. The Software Engineering Intern will be responsible for software development & implementation, coding, and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software. The intern will write programs according to given specifications using tools like Jira, Git, AWS and languages primarily in Python, with exposure to JavaScript, SQL or other languages. The intern will collaborate across departments to learn and understand problems with software.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Software development & design, testing, and implementation

  • Knowledgeable of software development concepts, process, and tools

  • Maintaining and upgrading existing software applications

  • Work on assigned tickets and submit pull requests for code review

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Update and maintain technical documentation

  • Participate in team standups and technical sessions

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • First preference to CA students

  • Sophomore or Junior status (graduating in 2027 or 2028)

  • No sponsorship provided (we cannot accept OPT, H1B, etc students at this time)

  • Intermediate computer/technical skills in Microsoft products

  • Programming experience in Python, SQL, and/or other languages

  • Understanding of version control (Git/GitHub)
