EDUCATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Currently a candidate for a master’s degree or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with an accredited school in Canada. 

 

  • A demonstrated interest in networking and telecommunications. 
  • A solid knowledge of both computer hardware and software concepts.
  • Excellent software development skill set, including programming/scripting, debugging, and familiarity with source control tools (i.e., Git).
  • A strong passion for quality, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with others.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • A solid knowledge of the OSI model with a focus on Data Link and Network layers (IP addressing, routers, switches).
  • Working knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.).
  • Experience with some network security protocols or encryption.
  • Experience using Wireshark or some other type of network protocol analyzer.

As a part of our team, you will: 

  • Contribute as an integral member of Services Test team (in Services Router Series of FP/IXR/SRL).
  • Receive quality one-on-one engineering mentorship while learning and using various network protocols that are being tested in your team.
  • Conduct end-to-end testing of high-capacity routers (7750 SR, 7250 IXR, and 7330 SXR) over various test areas, including functional, stress, scaling, feature interaction, etc.
  • Test many functions of the routers in parallel, scale, and stress scenarios, attempting to model the network after realistic customer use cases.
  • Develop and enhance test automation using Python/TCL in a Linux-based regression environment to ensure software quality and stability.
  • Troubleshoot issues and work closely with testers and developers to investigate and resolve software defects.
