Your Impact at Lila

Join the Lila Physical Sciences Experiments Team as a Research Assistant in Cambridge, MA. We're looking for a collaborative, motivated individual to support our innovative electrochemical workflows. You'll work closely with our engineering, automation, and data teams to build and maintain advanced electrochemical testing equipment and robotic synthesis instruments. This role provides an opportunity to design workflows and contribute to exciting breakthroughs in materials discovery.

What You'll Be Building

  • High Throughput Electrochemical Testing: Collaborate with scientists to design and execute high throughput electrochemical testing procedures. Ensure optimal instrument performance and promptly address any issues with the science, hardware, and software teams.
  • Autonomous Testing Workflows: Engage with cross-functional teams to develop and implement autonomous testing workflows, including prototyping, robot training, and deployment.
  • Workflow Optimization: Partner with scientists to identify and resolve bottlenecks in workflows, enhancing efficiency and throughput.
  • Robotic Instrument Troubleshooting: Maintain and debug robotic instruments, working closely with the automation team to implement effective solutions.
  • Data Management: Oversee data collection and storage, identifying and addressing weaknesses in the data pipeline to ensure data integrity and accessibility. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Fundamental knowledge of electrochemical processes (CV, CP, CA, LSV, EIS, OCP, etc.) and experience with autonomous workflows and robotic systems.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset. 

Bonus Points For

  • Additional Laboratory Techniques: Familiarity with material synthesis and characterization methods (e.g., XRF, XRD, SEM/EDS).
  • Industry Experience: Experience in a fast-paced research environment with industry standards in materials science.
