The Software organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems. Our precision software and firmware integrate operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensors, guidance, and flight control processing features to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. This position is on-site in San Diego, CA.
What You Will Do:
You will leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to assist with the development, deployment, implementation, and support of unit testing, integration testing and regression testing of our system. This will include Whitebox, Blackbox, boundary, parameter and exception testing.
What You Will Learn:
• Software unit test methodology for Mission Critical software components
• Modern agile software engineering practices like DevSecOps and their associated tools (Jira, Gitlab, Confluence, etc.)
Qualifications You Must Have:
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and will be at minimum Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post Grad year by summer 2026.
- Experience with Java program language
- Experience with Code Development Tools: VSCode, Maven, Junit5, Mockito
- Experience programming within the Linux environment.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Software engineering project experience in a team.
- Experience with Code Development Tools/Languages: python, Go, C++, googletest
- Experience with Docker Containerized Development Tools: Docker/Docker Compose or Kubernetes/Helm
- Interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- 3.4+ cumulative GPA desired.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and leaders in a team environment.
- Candidates should have good writing skills that involve the ability to observe, capture precise information and review content for accuracy and clarity.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
