Position Overview

The Network Engineering Intern will work closely with the Network Engineering and Operations team and this role provides hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies while supporting daily operations of EA’s network. The intern will have the opportunity to learn from experienced Network Engineers and gain exposure to real-world enterprise network environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Network Engineers with network configuration, documentation, and troubleshooting

  • Participate in implementing network changes under supervision

  • Help monitor network performance and availability using enterprise tools

  • Learn to interpret network diagrams, configurations, and change requests

  • Contribute to maintaining accurate network documentation and asset tracking

  • Shadow team members on global infrastructure projects and gain exposure to enterprise best practices

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts (IP addressing, subnets, VLANs, routing, switching)

  • Familiarity with network devices such as switches, routers, and access points

  • Interest in learning about Cisco or similar enterprise networking technologies

  • Basic knowledge of Wi-Fi concepts and wireless troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with command-line interfaces (CLI) and comfort learning new tools

  • Experience with or willingness to learn Python or shell scripting for automation

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to enterprise tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, or network monitoring platforms

  • Familiarity with firewalls or VPNs

  • Interest in automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.)

  • Basic understanding of network security concepts

  • Coursework or lab experience with Cisco Networking Academy or similar program

What You’ll Learn

  • How large-scale enterprise networks are designed, deployed, and maintained

  • Real-world troubleshooting techniques and change-management processes

  • Best practices for documentation, monitoring, and network automation

  • Hands-on exposure to Cisco and Palo Alto equipment, monitoring tools, and wireless design

You must be available for a full-time paid internship in the summer of 2026.

At this time, we are considering Undergrad students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the summer of 2026, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2026. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the 12 week internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
