We are seeking an enthusiastic student who will contribute to the mandate of the Corporate Archives to maintain and make available the permanent records created by Manulife, subsidiary companies, and acquired companies. The Archives Assistant Intern/Co-op will support the development and management of the Corporate Archives program, and in particular, the arrangement and description of permanent records.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and verify inventories against bodies of records.
  • Rehouse records and perform routine preservation work as needed.
  • Input collection descriptions into a database in accordance with our procedures.
  • Develop content for our internal social media site.
  • Scan documents and photographs.
  • Conduct research using archival records.
  • Assist with other projects and internal outreach.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a postsecondary program with a focus on archival studies.
  • Knowledge of general archival practices and principles.
  • Previous work experience in an archives, library, or museum would be an asset.
  • Experience with collections management software (particularly ArchiveEra) would be an asset.
  • Previous experience handling artworks.
