Your Opportunity

The role of a Water Resources intern is to work on small projects, and/or as a team member of a larger project under the close guidance and supervision of engineers/designers. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, and field work. The smaller projects that a Water Resources intern may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.

A Water Resources intern may also assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of engineering assignments. May assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Hydrologic analysis using, \rainfall-runoff models, statistical analysis, regression analysis
  • Performs basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Perform GIS analyses to support engineering and technical services.
  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support engineering decisions.
  • Perform Hydraulic analyses using Steady State, unsteady state and 2D models.
  • Write documents summarizing work performed.
  • Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices throughout the country.
  • Complete tasks on schedule with pride and ownership of your work.
  • Attend project meetings involving communication to local government officials.
  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.
  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.

Education and experience

  • Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering
  • Course work in hydrology and hydraulics

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong willingness to learn and to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices.
  • The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills.
  • Good understanding of general concepts of engineering hydrology and hydraulics
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, and other similar material
  • Experience with GIS and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software is an asset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and also as part of a team.
  • Some travel may be required.
