Job Description

We are currently hiring a Sales & Business Development Intern for a summer term position, from May 2025 to December 2025 or April 2026 (8 or 12 months) at our Hitachi Rail office in Toronto.

The Sales & BD will support the Urban Rail Signalling (URS) BL by conducting order intake reviews and collaborating on seminars, presentations and market intelligence activities.
He/she works closely with marketing and product teams, sales, key account managers and capture leaders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Engage with the Sales & BD teams, Key Account Managers and Country Directors globally to collaborate on the achievement of order intake and margins targets.

    • Keep close follow up of opportunities (Quarter forecast, Must Wins, Key Projects, Large Contracts)

    • Maintain Salesforce database updated and provide sales forecasts

    • Organize Sales seminars

    • Prepare reports on a regular basis for management review which summarize the order intake status (Monthly reviews, Bi-weekly report, etc.)

  • Manage the competitive and market intelligence lifecycle for URS BL, spanning from data collection to structuring, and also intelligence dissemination.

    • Manage and share information with top management 

    • Increase knowledge of our competitors, and, more widely, our whole ecosystem

Key Requirements

  • The successful candidate should be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university or college in marketing, business, or a related field.

  • Completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree, or currently pursuing a master’s degree.

  • Ability to assimilate, integrate, and extract relevant information in a concise manner, as appropriate.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Curiosity, critical thinking, independence, adaptability, networking skills, and openness to other cultures.

  • Strong language skills – due to the international nature of the business, the candidate must be comfortable writing in English and able to understand and operate effectively in an international business environment.

  • The ability to work 40 hours a week in a hybrid environment for the duration of the internship is essential, with at least 2 days per week in the office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Co-op student available for an 8- or 12-month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the completion of the internship.

  • Experience working in an international organization and/or in the rail industry is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Market Intelligence, Business, or a related field (or equivalent).
