Program Description:

The Undergraduate Summer Analyst Program gives undergraduate juniors the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution. Through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities, students get:

Junior interns work in one specific business area or function for ten weeks, and have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank. At the end of the program, students leave with strong skills, professional connections, and meaningful experiences that will support them in their long-term careers.

Our Unique Work:

• The Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Data and Statistics function provides critical data capabilities in support of a safe and sound financial system. Our work promotes Financial Stability, the implementation of domestic and international supervisory policy, and Monetary Policy. The team’s mission is to increase utility and ability to use financial data through standardization, thoughtful collection design, and increase capacity of the Function to scale operations.

How You’ll Make an Impact as a Research & Statistics Intern (Junior)

• Supports critical financial/organizational structure data capture, quality assurance, and analysis for data collections on behalf of a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

•  Analyzes and researches well-defined inquiries on assigned data concepts.

• Conducts data analysis and visualization, as needed, to support client outputs

• Assists in preparing internal systems to receive timely and complete data.

The Unique Skill Sets We’re Looking For:

• You must have a demonstrated interest in banking, accounting, economics, finance, operations management, or data management, with a strong academic record and passion for public service

• Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Tableau, R or Python is desirable

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Salary Range: Your regular wages for the 10 weeks will be paid on a semi-monthly basis and will be calculated based on an annual salary of $72,100.

We pay individuals along this range based on their unique backgrounds. Whether you’re stretching into the job or are a more seasoned candidate, we aim to pay competitively for your contributions. 

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information (CSI) and/or Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) information. Access to CSI and FOMC information is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals who meet the definition of “protected individual” under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), and certain other nonimmigrants. All non-U.S. citizens authorized to access CSI and/or FOMC information must sign a declaration of intent to expeditiously become a lawful permanent resident and thereafter a U.S. citizen when eligible.
