As a Fab Equipment Technician Apprentice at Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho, you will learn how to monitor, sustain, and improve the equipment and processes in our world-class Technology Development Fab.

Micron's Apprenticeship Program offers an “earn and learn” model, where you will receive outstanding on-the-job training enabling you to directly apply the training from your course work to your job. At the end of the apprenticeship, participants will earn a US Department of Labor and industry recognized credential

Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with production team members and area Technicians and Engineers and assist in daily monitoring tool performance

  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets

  • Use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment issues

  • Complete the required safety training and conduct all work in accordance with safety policies; perform and facilitate audits and submits good catches on safety issues

  • Accurately document the work performed and current tool statuses

  • Provide troubleshooting support for equipment-related problems and address root causes

  • Improve tool availability by finding solutions to ongoing problems

  • Adhere to all apprenticeship guidelines, protocols and additional instructions from program manager and program partners

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Willingness and ability to enroll in College of Western Idaho’s AAS Advanced Mechatronics Technology (AMET) degree program (no prior course work in this degree required, however individuals must meet pre-requisites to enroll) 

  • Basic to intermediate PC skills with the following platforms: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams) in addition to Zoom for virtual meetings

  • Solid time management and prioritization skills

  • Ability to multi-task and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment

  • Reliable and consistent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Must be flexible to work any shift and rotate shifts as needed (Micron will work with apprentices to support class schedule as needed)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, including fundamentals of electricity

  • Experience with preventative maintenance and equipment / automotive repairs

  • Technical writing and documentation procedures
